Over previous week the Grain team have been busy attending the annual CIH Housing Conference at the Manchester Central Exhibition Centre. The exhibition looks to showcase innovation and best practice within the housing sector, from ultra-fast broadband all the way to high tech home security products. The exhibition also featured a vast array of keynote addresses examining and debating the biggest challenges within the housing sector.
The conference was attended by over 12,000 delegates, exhibitors and members of the public and saw Grain exhibiting, with our live on day one message resonating with a lot of developers and housing associations. We had a fantastic time meeting the diverse range of developers, as well as technology providers, and look forward to catching up with a lot of these companies in the near future.
Keynote addresses such as “The Future of Smart Home Technology” saw the likes of Kier, Home Group and Google lock horns on the subject. The consensus was that Smart Technologies will continue to grow as an industry, and more products will begin to be offered by developers as additions to their product. An increased bandwidth capability will, therefore, be required, and Grain are at the forefront of both Bandwidth currently, and future capability as well.
With smart home technology being such a hot topic at this years event, Grain ran a competition to win a Sonos Alexa enabled smart speaker. The lucky winner was Nick Davidge of Ilke Homes (pictured). Ilke Homes are at the cutting edge of offsite built modular housing, another hot topic in several Keynote Addresses.
The Grain team learnt a lot at this year’s event and felt we made some fantastic contacts. It was great to meet everyone who stopped by to speak with us, and the event overall gave us a really positive outlook on the challenges for the industry in the future, we can’t wait to see you all next year to talk more about our new build fibre networks!
