Hyperfast broadband reaches Auchterarder

Homebuyers at Stewart Milne’s Hunters Meadow development in Auchterarder will become some of the best-connected in Scotland as the homebuilder has chosen to partner with internet provider Grain Connect to improve broadband speeds.

Stewart Milne Homes partnered with Grain Connect to bring residents a state-of-the-art full-fibre broadband network – one of the fastest and most advanced in the UK. Residents will move into their homes knowing that they are already connected to some of the fastest available speeds.

With a one week, no obligation, free trial offered by Grain, homeowners can start making use of the service the minute they walk through the door, connecting to speeds up to 1000Mb/s. Previously, the fastest speed available was 30Mb/s, meaning locals were often constrained in what they could do online.

With the recent significance of home working and interest in ‘out of the city living’ expected to increase, hundreds of homeowners will benefit from ‘hyperfast’ gigabit broadband speeds.

Residents’ routers are connected directly to the fibre network, providing equal upload and download speeds with little to no service interruptions – ideal for households who are home working, schooling, streaming TV and video gaming all at the same time.

The idyllic historical town of Auchterarder in Perthshire has previously been voted in the top 10 desirable places to live in Scotland but due to its semi-rural location the fastest broadband speeds have been unachievable.

Jonathan Fair, Managing Director of Stewart Milne Homes Scotland said of the partnership: “In a digitally led age, with home working and schooling being the default position for so many of us, together with large parts of our regular social interactions or entertainment also being derived online, we recognise that securing the fastest and most reliable internet connection to their home is something that is extremely important to our well-informed customers.

“That’s why we have partnered with Grain to deliver this new direct full fibre broadband infrastructure across our development here in Hunters Meadow, Auchterarder.”

Richard Robinson, Managing Director of Grain Connect added: “Bringing our service to Hunters Meadow means that many more people can get connected up to the fastest fibre speeds, in a time when it’s more important than ever to have fast and reliable internet connections.

“Our relationship with Stewart Milne means we can install the homes with fibre before residents move in, which makes it even easier and hassle free. We look forward to continuing our growth in Scotland, reaching new communities, and working closely with forward thinking developers like Stewart Milne Homes to help us achieve this.”
