2025

Secured £225 million in funding for future growth

We secured £225 million in new funding to supercharge our Full Fibre rollout. So exciting for Grain, and for the thousands of people waiting for a better broadband option.

2024

Connected our 30,000th customer!

We connected our 30,000th customer and set a company record when we signed up, installed, and connected a new customer to our network in Middlesbrough in only 36 minutes!

2023

£40m bank facility signed & launched new website

We agreed a new deal with Nord Bank with an initial facility of £40m, allowing us to further progress our roll out. Then, launched a new and updated website, giving customers even more information about the benefits of our Full Fibre service.

2022

Hit 100 connected new build sites & hired our 100th employee!

We reached a milestone 100 new build developments connected to the Grain network, and celebrated our 100th employee to join our rapidly growing team.

2021

Further £75m investment & relocation of Grain HQ

After a successful trial we decided to expand to a wider urban build programme covering 14 areas in the North of England. In support of this shift in focus, we received a £75 million capital investment from Equitix. Plus, moved to our new head office, to better accommodate our growing workforce.

2020

Started to roll out to existing homes in towns and cities

Grain shifted focus from only connecting new build developments, to also bringing Full Fibre to towns and cities across the UK. The first of these was a trial on home ground, in Carlisle.

2019

£10 million investment

We gained significant investment of £10 million from Albion Capital.

2017

First live site on the Grain network

Countesswells in Aberdeen became the first new build development to go live on the Grain network.

2016

Grain was born

After the success of Crindledyke, Grain was born as a joint venture between Solway Communications and Pinnacle Group. We established our headquarters in Carlisle and began planning the future of our business.

Grain started with a simple idea: what if we could build a broadband network from scratch, using the latest technology, without being held back by outdated infrastructure?

That’s exactly what we did. Since our inception, we’ve been laying our own Full Fibre network, designed for the digital age and built to last. We’re not upgrading old copper lines – we’re creating a brand new, future-proof infrastructure that brings the power of true fibre optic broadband directly to your doorstep.
