Grain’s Charity Walk in aid of Mind

Grain’s Charity Walk in aid of Mind!

It’s been a month since we completed the Grain Charity Walk on the Ullswater Way; our legs have just about recovered and soggy socks (and trousers, tops, jumpers, boots, and pants) are a distant memory.

We’re very proud and happy to share that we’ve exceeded our target and gained £1164 in donations, in aid of mental health charity, Mind!

In honour of our efforts, lets recap…

Though the weather was dry leaving Grain HQ in Carlisle, the rain was quick to appear and stuck around for the rest of the day. We set off from our starting point in Glenridding, to the lake path in Patterdale and headed north alongside Ullswater.

It soon became clear that the path was not the easy lakeside wander the team were expecting. Despite the steep inclines, rough terrain and torrential downpours, spirits were high, and the team powered on in aid of a worthy cause.

The break-taking scenic view of the lake and mountains made our walk even better, second only to the great company. It would also be safe to assume we were the only customers to buy ice-cream at the lakeside café, enroute.

From Howtown, graced by a big segment of lovely smooth tarmac, we managed to pick up speed and complete the second half of the walk in much better time.

A total of 12 miles later, we arrived in Pooley Bridge looking as though we’d completed a Charity Swim… but feeling accomplished nonetheless!

Well-deserved and much needed refreshments!

More about Mind

Mental health charity, Mind, fight to ensure those with mental health problems receive the support and respect they deserve. They not only provide advice and support to empower those experiencing mental health issues, but they also campaign for better services, educate people and raise awareness.

Support is not limited to those with mental health problems, but also those trying to understand and help someone else, such as a friend or family member.

At Grain, we too believe that nobody should feel alone in their mental health problems, which is why we’re proud to be able to support the charity in this way.
