• What could be messing with my Wi-Fi?

  Wi-Fi is radio waves that send a frequency through each room. Here are some things that can impact this signal and slow down your speeds:

  • Interference from microwaves, cordless phones, mirrors, baby monitors and electric garage doors
  • Large household items such as fridge freezers or furniture can block your signal
  • Metal, brick, insulation and large bodies of water can sometimes get in the way of your signal

   

• How many devices can the Wi-Fi handle?

  That depends on the device, the distance from the router or extender, and the activities you are trying to do.

  Consider how many devices are connected and how they are being used. Not just the usual suspects like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Consider other devices like security cameras, smart thermostats, smart speakers, and even printers. They all put pressure on your connection and slowing things down.

  It might be that you need more speed – because more speed means more to share around all those devices.

• Why can't I get my full speeds over Wi-Fi?

  Bear in mind that the speeds are to the router. The 900Mb speed is not achievable by a single device over Wi-Fi and for this speed a wired connection is required. The speeds you experience will always depend on your distance from the router or Wi-Fi extender, the device you are using (because some have speed caps) and the activities you are trying to do over the Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi can be unpredictable but we will always do our best to help you optimise it throughout your home.
