Offer terms
Package speeds are pushed direct to your router over our Full Fibre network. Some speeds may not be achievable by a single device over Wi-Fi, and a wired connection will always deliver the best speeds. The speed you experience will depend on your distance from the router/Wi-Fi extender, usage and equipment capability.  For information about your price at renewal time, please see our Price Guide. Why choose Grain over Virgin Media broadband?

Rated highly by our customers

When choosing a broadband provider, great customer support can be just as important as fast speeds. Whether you need help placing an order, have a question about your installation or need technical support, it’s reassuring to know there’s someone ready to help. We’re proud of the positive feedback we receive from our customers on Trustpilot, where thousands of reviewers have shared their experiences with Grain. If customer service is an important factor when choosing your next broadband provider, our reviews speak for themselves. Read our Trustpilot reviews

No annual in-contract price rises

Knowing exactly what you’ll pay each month makes budgeting easier. While Virgin Media applies annual in-contract price increases on many broadband packages, Grain offers fixed pricing throughout your minimum contract term, so your monthly broadband price stays the same.

Symmetrical upload and download speeds

Fast download speeds are important, but upload speeds matter too. Whether you’re working from home, gaming online, backing up files or joining video calls, Grain’s symmetrical Full Fibre packages provide equally fast upload and download speeds for a smoother online experience.

Speeds up to 2Gbps

If your household has multiple people streaming, gaming and working online at the same time, choosing the right broadband package can make all the difference. Grain offers Full Fibre broadband with speeds of up to 2Gbps (subject to availability), giving you plenty of capacity for busy households.

A dedicated Full Fibre connection

Grain operates its own independent Full Fibre network, delivering fibre directly to your property. This provides fast, reliable broadband with symmetrical upload and download speeds, designed to keep up with today’s connected homes.

Frequently asked questions

Every property is different, so it’s natural to have questions before changing broadband provider. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we hear from customers moving from Virgin Media to Grain broadband.

  • How do I switch to Grain?

Switching to Grain is as easy as 1-2-3:

Check: Enter your postcode into our postcode checker to see our available speeds.
Choose: Select the Full Fibre plan that fits your needs and complete your checkout online. Ensure you input your existing broadband account details when prompted!
Connect: We manage the switchover from your existing provider, ensuring a smooth transition with no complicated cancellations required from your side.

  • How long will it take to activate my service?

Once your router is installed, the process to switch on your package happens straight away, meaning you can start enjoying your new Full Fibre broadband connection in no time! Our engineer will let you know if there’s anything you need to do.

  • Is there any downtime during a switch?

One Touch Switch is designed to minimise downtime. Once your new Grain service is installed, your current provider will be notified and action the cancellation of the old service, meaning you should never be left without a broadband service.

  • What do I need to consider before switching?

Check your current contract, including any end dates and cancellation fees. You can do this by calling them, checking a previous statement or logging in to an online account. When you make your switch, you will need to have your customer ID or account number handy, and also ensure its the registered bill payer who makes the switch.

If you choose to start an automatic switch, you will receive an email when we make the initial request that contains all the relevant information about your contract and monthly charges. This does not confirm a switch and will not cancel any existing service, until we get your consent.

  • Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes, we should be able to transfer your current number to our network, however you will need an active account with your old provider and an active Grain account to do this.

All you need to do is submit your transfer request, simply get in touch with our support team. Our team will then arrange the transfer. Please note: it can take up to 22 days to receive the number from your old provider, so please contact us as soon as possible to ensure we can make the transfer.

Once we have received the number from your previous provider, only then should you cancel your account with them. This is because your old account needs to be active for us to retrieve your number.

  • Do I need to cancel Virgin myself?

In most cases, you don’t need to cancel Virgin broadband yourself when switching to a new provider. The One Touch Switch process means your new provider handles the cancellation for you. Just make sure your account details are correct before placing your order.

In some situations, you may still need to contact Virgin directly – for example if you’re cancelling additional services or your switch falls outside the One Touch Switch process.

Start by checking your Virgin contract to know your end date and any potential cancellation fees. You can do this in two ways:

Either call Virgin on 0345 454 1111 or, sign in to your My Virgin Media account. Select “View Contract” to view the details of your current contract.

  • Can I switch from Virgin media before my contract ends?

Yes. However, if you’re still within your minimum contract period, Virgin Media may charge an early disconnection fee. Check your contract before switching.

You can usually find your contract information by signing in to your Virgin Media online account or by contacting Virgin Media customer services.

  • Will I have to return my Virgin media equipment if I switch?

Virgin Media may ask you to return your router or TV equipment once your service has ended. Check your account for the latest return instructions.

  • Can I keep Virgin TV if I switch broadband?

It depends on the Virgin Media services you currently subscribe to. Before switching, check how changing your broadband service could affect any TV or additional services included in your package.

  • Is Grain available where I live?

Our Full Fibre network is currently available to hundreds of thousands of UK homes and businesses. Enter your postcode to see whether your property can connect.
