Sky have now joined the ranks with inflation busting broadband price rises and are about to increase broadband bills for new customers by another £3 per month, which is significantly more than inflation.
We are here to stand up for broadband consumers and say that these ever-increasing announcements about price rises from all the providers are totally unacceptable.
In bad company…
Sky are the latest in a long list of broadband providers to hit customers with inflation busting price rises – but here at Grain, we stand with customers and believe this it totally unacceptable.
Ofcom changed the rules in July 2024, banning inflationary linked prices rises to increase transparency, and Sky has now joined others who charge excessive increases way above the rate of inflation.
Sky is joining a rogue’s gallery of companies exploiting their customers loyalty including Virgin, BT, EE, Plusnet, TalkTalk, Vodafone, Rise Fibre, 4th Utility, Hyperoptic and Community Fibre. Many of these providers increase prices twice during each contract term.
This is a blatant abuse of customer loyalty, with these companies now making excess profits at their customer’s expense. We think this should be banned.
Don’t accept this from Sky and others, act now and choose a provider who treats their customers fairly.
Even other challenger brands are heading that way
Netomnia (parent company of YouFibre and Brsk) is reportedly (Financial Times) about to be acquired by Virgin Media so their customers now have to worry about the Virgin Media price increases too.
Hyperoptic famously campaigned against price rises, but changed their approach in 2025 and now increase bills by £3 per month each year.
Is Grain the last refuge for customers who want fair contract terms?
It seems we might be the only company left who are willing to stand by contract pricing and honour it throughout the fixed-term. Grain commits to providing the best value prices to its customers, so that they can enjoy faster, fairer Full Fibre broadband.
What to do if you are a Sky customer
Look out for your notification from Sky, which may come by email or letter. It should detail the price rise and make you aware if you have 31 days to vote with your feet and leave penalty free.
This is because companies, under law, cannot change their Terms & Conditions in a way which will negatively impact customers, without providing the opportunity for you to break the contract and leave. This is your right, and we would encourage you to take advantage of this if you are impacted.
Check your postcode today and see if Grain can step in to help you out with a low-cost and price-locked fixed-term contract. Imaging, 18 months of knowing exactly how much your bill will be, and NO price rise. Yay for Grain!
