Expected price rises for Virgin broadband customers announced

We don’t do in-contract price rises here at Grain. We keep saying it, and we will say it again – we don’t believe in enforcing unfair price rises during your fixed term contract.

But with the Retail Price Index (RPI) announced for January 2024, we now know that Virgin broadband customers can expect price rises of up to 8.8% this year.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has announced the January 2024 RPI rate is 4.9%.

With Virgin broadband putting up their prices each year in line with RPI, plus an additional percentage of 3.9%, Virgin customers could be hit with price rises of around £42 over the next 12 months!

Last month, many other providers such as BT, KCOM, TalkTalk, EE and Vodafone were able to identify their expected price rises, based on the December 2023 Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 4%. Added to their standard increase of 3.9%, most customers will face 7.9% increases this year.

Customers of these companies can expect their price rise notifications to start landing in inboxes and doormats through February and March, with the increases taking effect from March or April.

Our table below outlines the price rises companies are expected to hit their customers with:
